IT 101 - Elementary Italian I
Course Description
Five hours of instruction per week. This course is the first semester of college-level study in Italian. Emphasis is placed on the development of oral proficiency and listening skills, reading comprehension, writing skills, analysis of grammatical structures, and an understanding of Italian culture and society. Regular class attendance and participation is expected.

Course Objectives
- To have a solid grounding in the fundamental grammatical structures of the Italian language studied in this course.
- To understand and speak Italian at an elementary level.
- To read and comprehend elementary Italian prose.
- To write analytically and creatively in Italian in a manner appropriate to the level.
- To have a greater awareness and appreciation of Italian culture and society as contextualized by the study of the Italian language.
