Welcome to the Italian Program!
The Italian Studies Program at The University of Alabama offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses in Italian language, from elementary to advanced, are taught each semester. Students are introduced to Italian literature, film, and civilization with a set of offerings that span the Middle Ages through contemporary times. Independent study and special topics courses are available for advanced students. Undergraduate students can earn a minor in Italian, and graduate students pursuing the doctoral degree in Romance Languages can elect to include a concentration in Italian Studies. The Alabama-in-Italy Summer Program in Florence, Italy offers students an opportunity to study language, culture, literature, and art history within the context of the broader European tradition.
